Hands on the tarot cards

What can one expect from a tarot reading?

TAROT HISTORY: Tarotists use a deck of cards that originated over 500 years ago in northern Italy. Although the Tarot was first used in a game called Triumphs, it was quickly adopted as a tool for divination, and popularized by occult societies such as the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. The early Tarot symbolism was deeply rooted in Medieval and Renaissance Europe, but over the centuries it has grown to incorporate everything from astrology and kaballah to runes - which predated the Tarot by 1000 years - and the I Ching - which predated the Tarot by 2500 years. Tarot decks usually consist of 78 cards: 22 of the cards are major arcana (trumps) - such as The Lovers, The Fool, The Pope, and The World. And the remaining 56 cards are minor arcana, including: 4 suites of 14 cards each. The suites are: the Swords, the Cups, the Wands (a.k.a. 'Rods' or 'Staves'), and the Pentacles (a.ka. 'Coins' or 'Discs'). Although the traditional meanings of the cards are sort of the same and not depending on the specific deck used, the imagery and language associated with each single deck makes certain decks more useful for some types of readings.

Today, the Tarot is far away the most popular tool for spiritual introspection in the West. Time for spreading the cards with your own hands!

Can Hand Reading compete with the popular Tarot Cards?

The tarot cards are known as one of the most popular phenomena in the field of the alternative sciences, and basically it has only one purpose: to 'predict' the future! And the tarot is sometimes described as one the most wonderful of inventions of the human mind - though the majority of people tend to consider it as just funny game of entertainment. So, a tarot reading does not cross the borders of the human mind - it is just a matter of 'belief' and it can not be described as a 'hard' science.

Contrary, despite that Hand Reading is far less popular than the tarot (& astrology) - it does have have a solid basis and it appears to develop slowly to become a 'hard science'! But nevertheless, meanwhile lots of people continue to associate Hand Reading with only the purpose of predicting the future. And even while many palm readers, palmists & hand analysts today propagate that the purpose of modern hand reading is not focussed on future predictions, the 'bad image' of palmistry (especially in Western countries) is still very alive!

Despite all the outcries of philosophers, this pack of pictures, in which destiny is reflected as in a mirror with multiple facets, remains so vital and exercises so irresistible an attraction on imaginative minds that it is hardly possible that austere critics who speak in the name of an exact but uninteresting logic should ever succeed in abolishing its employment.
