Onycholysis: large white / yellow fingernail free edge.

LARGE WHITE/YELLOW FREE EDGE

GENERAL: White colour (whitish) is normal in the nail's free edge. The free edge's shape relates to the nail moon (= nail matrix). When the distal nail edge is lifted (= painless seperated from the nail bed) the white zone of the free edge becomes larger.

CAUSES: Trauma, water, nail bed disease, medical problems (e.g. psoriasis, yellow nail syndrome).
